The instructions that come with the new Handpresso Auto include an important reminder: “The Handpresso should never be used in the vehicle while it is running.” Good point: This portable machine might make a nice cup of espresso, but it “sounds like some sort of explosive device when it’s working,” and that can be distracting. Before you hit the road, or after you’ve pulled over, just plug into the car’s 12-volt power source, pop in an espresso packet, and pour in some water. If you’re smart, the “only real danger is what it might do to the seats and carpet if you spill some.”
