1. Tina Fey will open the season premiere of Saturday Night Live

We're just a few weeks away from the premiere of the 39th season of Saturday Night Live, and NBC has finally announced the star who will open the season: Former cast member Tina Fey, presumably because Lorne Michaels hopes the face of a returning cast member will distract you from all the other cast members who aren't there anymore. The Hollywood Reporter adds that the SNL premiere will also include appearances from Bruce Willis and Miley Cyrus, offering the rare opportunity for all the Twerk Hard: With a Vengeance jokes you didn't know you wanted. 2. Vin Diesel says he's working on something huge with Marvel

When Vin Diesel announced that he would be providing the voice and motion-capture for a gruff, monotone tree-man in Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy — truly the role he was born to play — most people assumed that was the end of his business with the comic-book giant. Not so, says Diesel; he's in the early stages of developing a new project with Marvel, which would allegedly kick off their "phase three." The project is "so big I can't even talk about it," said Diesel, adding that it involves "the merging of brands in a way." 3. R2-D2 is in Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Wars fans and Trekkies have long been the Hatfields and McCoys of the nerd world, but Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams, whose next project is Star Wars: Episode VII, is clearly trying to bridge the gap. io9 reader Rafael Oca spotted Star Wars' R2-D2 in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in the middle of Star Trek Into Darkness getting sucked into space alongside a few doomed crew members. We won't know how deep this crossover goes until Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters in 2015 — but Star Wars cast members should probably throw out all their red shirts just in case. [io9]

4. Vanessa Hudgens wants children, a Mustang, and an Academy Award

It's hard to imagine what could possibly top the thrill of starring in three consecutive High School Musical movies, but in a recent interview with Marie Claire, Vanessa Hudgens confessed that she has even higher aspirations for the future. "A vintage Mustang, kids, and an Oscar," said Hudgens, who apparently has very high hopes for her supporting role in next month's Machete Kills. [E! Online]

5. Parents aren't thrilled about that Breaking Bad LEGO set

Breaking Bad may be the most acclaimed show on television, but it's probably not something you would sit down and watch with your kids. But that didn't stop Citizen Brick, a company that specializes in custom, LEGO-style toys, from manufacturing toy sets based on Walt and Jesse's meth-cooking RV and Gus Fring's superlab. Predictably, parents are less than pleased. In response to complaints, LEGO issued a statement explaining that the Breaking Bad set isn't "sponsored, authorized, or endorsed by the LEGO Group" — so you can probably stop holding your breath for an official Game of Thrones Red Wedding set.
