Pennsylvania man shoots at wedding ring

A Pennsylvania man nearly lost his finger when he tried to remove his wedding ring by shooting it off. Alfredo Malespini III, a prison guard, had been drinking and arguing with his wife over a past infidelity, police said, when he suddenly pulled out a gun and blasted at his hand. He told police he was “trying to get rid of the wedding ring.” The shot badly mangled Malespini’s finger, but didn’t succeed in removing the ring.

George Clooney’s latest girlfriend has a shrewd plan for getting the confirmed bachelor to marry her, says the National Enquirer. Nearly two years into their relationship, former pro wrestler Stacy Keibler, 33, has been deliberately playing hard to get, refusing to phone the commitment-phobic actor when he’s away filming or partying with his buddies. “Eventually,” says a source, “he starts missing her, and he’s the one who calls.” Clooney, 51, dumped previous girlfriends when they got too smitten and clingy, but Keibler’s strategy seems to be working, the source says. “George only seems more drawn to her as time goes by.”

Japan's masked politician

A Japanese politician has been banned from local government meetings after he refused to take off his Mexican wrestling mask. The politician, who calls himself Skull Reaper A-ji, won a seat on Oita’s city council last month, but fellow assembly members swiftly barred him from the chamber, claiming his red-and-black leather mask violates council rules. Skull Reaper says his constituents like the disguise and refuses to remove it. “If I take my mask off,” he says, “I’m an entirely different person.”
