“The aggressive weirdness” of this 1970 film seems “terribly dated,” but it’s still an interesting artifact, said the A.V. Club. Co-written by Terry Southern and based on a John Barth novel, it stars Stacy Keach as a young man who goes catatonic in the face of society’s madness.

Mad Men: Season Five

(Lionsgate, $50)

Many fans of this acclaimed series about the 1960s advertising world think the most recent season was its best, said Time. Though less story-driven, it was loaded with “big moments” and “spectacular scenes,” the kind that TV viewers wanted to talk about all week.
