Show of the week: The Barnes Collection
PBS presents a portrait of businessman Albert C. Barnes and his collection of art.
This past May, a trove of art treasures that once belonged to businessman Albert C. Barnes completed a controversial move to a new Philadelphia museum designed to respect Barnes’s singular ideas about how they should be arranged. This fascinating portrait of the man and his collection relies heavily on Barnes’s own words, spoken by actor David Morse. Barnes’s passion bursts through. “Experience,” he said, “is the best part of education”—and it was Barnes’s intent to share that experience as widely as possible. Friday, Aug. 3, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings
