Study shows high rate of youth arrests
Almost one in three Americans has been arrested for a crime other than a traffic violation by the age of 23, according to a new study of 7,335 young people. The 30 percent arrest rate, sociologists said, reflects a more aggressive societal attitude toward such crimes as vandalism, underage drinking, drunken driving, shoplifting, and drug possession.

Mothers find work with phone-sex companies
The number of mothers who have young children and work for phone-sex companies has risen by 400 percent in the last 18 months because of the dismal economy. “Most sound a little embarrassed,” said Chris Durst, who runs a website that helps mothers find ways to earn money at home. “They say, ‘I’ve tried everything. This is the fastest way for me to get my family back on its feet again.’”
