Gossip: Lars von Trier
Von Trier baffled his audience at the Cannes film festival when he rambled on about discovering his German roots and referred to himself as a Nazi.
Danish film director Lars von Trier was booted from the Cannes film festival last week for calling himself “a Nazi” during a press interview, said HuffingtonPost.com. At the festival to promote his new film, von Trier, 55, baffled his audience when he launched into rambling remarks proclaiming his “pleasure” at discovering his German roots, referred to himself as a Nazi, and said that he “understands Hitler.” Von Trier later apologized and said he was speaking satirically. “I am not anti-Semitic or racially prejudiced in any way, nor am I a Nazi,” he said.
