There are no “big-name voice-over actors” in this animated 77-minute feature about the Norse god of thunder, said the Boston Herald. But this straight-to-video adventure does contain “remarkable character development” and a “compelling” story.

Covert Affairs: Season One

(USA, $60)

A rookie undercover agent learns her craft guided by a blind CIA field operative, said the Fresno, Calif., Bee. What makes this cable TV series work are the strong performances of co-stars Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham.
