Can Sharron Angle win a congressional seat in 2012?
The Nevada Tea Partier who fumbled a golden opportunity to oust Sen. Harry Reid in 2010 has a new political goal. Will she have better luck running for the House?
The video: Just four months after failing to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in a race many viewed as the Republicans' to lose, Sharron Angle is seeking office again — this time for a House seat in 2012. (View the announcement from her website below.) Now, the Tea Party favorite says she's launching a new campaign because she still wants to "stop the liberal agenda." She's running for a seat being vacated by Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who's seeking scandal-plagued Republican John Ensign's open Senate seat. Angle has campaigned for the House before, losing the 2006 Republican primary to Heller by just 421 votes. Will her newfound name recognition help or hurt her in what promises to be a crowded GOP primary?
The reaction: Republican voters had "buyer's remorse" about nominating Angle to face Reid, says Allahpundit at Hot Air. But her base is strong in this "solidly Republican" House district, and her Tea Party fundraising money will go far, making her a real contender. Actually, Angle is "an inept and incompetent campaigner," says Matt Lewis at The Daily Caller. She blew a "golden opportunity" to beat Reid, and she'll botch this primary, too. Her Tea Party backers will be wasting their money. Watch Angle's announcement:
