Why Mick Jagger prefers to be single

The Rolling Stones’ vocalist, 67, has tried marriage before, but it's not for him.

Don’t count on Mick Jagger settling down anytime soon, said Zoë Heller in the London Times. The Rolling Stones’ vocalist, 67, has tried it before, with wives Bianca, who divorced him in 1978, and Jerry Hall, whom he left in 1999. “To be honest, I don’t really think much of marriage,” Jagger says. “I’m not saying it’s not a wonderful thing, but it’s not for me.” Given his philandering, what comes next is unsurprising. “I don’t really subscribe to a completely normal view of what relationships should be. I have a bit more bohemian view.”

He insists that his disinterest in monogamy doesn’t mean he’s not supportive of his paramours. For the past decade, he’s been “kind of dating” designer L’Wren Scott, and he shows up at many of her fashion shows to give her career a little boost. “When I was with Jerry Hall, I used to help her pick her model pictures. That’s what you do.” But being faithful? “If you’ve studied or have even a passing knowledge of animal behavior, it’s hard to see how our rules and regulations fit in.” But what about swans, who mate for life? Jagger rolls his eyes. “Oh yeah, I love it when women say that.”
