A Michigan woman without health insurance shot herself to get medical attention. Kathy Myers, 41, says she injured her shoulder a month ago, but was told that without insurance “it would have to be life-threatening or imminent danger for them to do anything.” Myers then shot herself in the shoulder and returned to the hospital, but doctors treating the gunshot wound ignored the previous injury. “I really didn’t accomplish what I hoped it would accomplish,” Myers said.
