Director Tim Burton outdid himself in adapting Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, said The Denver Post. He chose to take Alice (Mia Wasikowska) down a much darker rabbit hole than that of Disney’s “cuddlier,” 1951 animated version, but “it’s hard to argue” with the idiosyncratic, wildly weird results.
