Alice in Wonderland

Director Tim Burton outdid himself in adapting Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, said The Denver Post. He chose to take Alice (Mia Wasikowska) down a much darker rabbit hole than that of Disney’s “cuddlier,” 1951 animated version, but “it’s hard to argue” with the idiosyncratic, wildly weird results.

Gerald Perry’s documentary turns the camera on film critics, said The New York Times. “Like a Discovery Channel documentary,” it observes such “articulate critics” as Roger Ebert and Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times, capturing a “species on the way to extinction.”
