It's not unheard of for a gay politican to pass himself off as straight. But, in a racy new twist, Pennsylvania State Rep. Babette Josephs, who's running for re-election, has alleged that her opponent, Gregg Kravitz, is going around "telling people, quote, 'I swing both ways,'" to impress voters in their heavily gay district. As Josephs puts it: "I outed him as a straight person." Kravitz, unamused, maintains that he's attracted to both men and women. At least one commentator sees the flap as a sign of progress: "We've hit a new high point," says Mark Segal, publisher of The Philadelphia Gay News, "when candidates are accused of pretending to be gay to win a seat."
