Getting Rihanna’s number, Merck’s Big Drug Deal
Good day for unlisted numbers, Bad day for alternative medicines
GOOD DAY FOR: Unlisted numbers, after the entertainment program Extra published the cellphone numbers of singers Rihanna and Chris Brown. The numbers were printed on court documents that the program put up on screen and, apparently, forgot to blur out. (The Inquisitr)
BAD DAY FOR: Alternative medicines, after U.S. pharmaceutical giant Merck agreed to buy rival Schering-Plough for $41.1 billion, making Merck the second-largest U.S. drugmaker, after Pfizer. Earlier this year, Pfizer offered $62 billion for drugmaker Wyeth. “It clearly is a year of mergers for pharmaceutical companies,” said Natixis Securities analyst Philippe Lanone. (Bloomberg)
