Hotel of the week: Eden Roc, Miami
The Eden Roc, which is situated right beside the legendary Fountainebleau, has just received a $180 million renovation.
Eden Roc
Miami
“An icon of ’50s elegance” has been reburnished in Miami, said Scott Vogel in The Washington Post. The Eden Roc hotel, designed by Morris Lapidus, first opened in 1956. Situated right beside another Lapidus hotel, the legendary Fountainebleau, it helped define an era of high-end sun worshipping. Over the decades the design gem became run-down, but now “the Eden Roc is back with a vengeance.” As part of the $180 million renovation, its “old Miami” look has been spruced up with new marble and Brazilian rosewood. A Wi-Fi network covers the beach and one classic restaurant sits “just 12 feet from the ocean.”
