Good Day, Bad Day

Rock ’n’ roll power, Lone Star pride

GOOD DAY FOR: Rock ’n’ roll power, after PG&E Corp. signed the first contract to buy energy generated through ocean waves. BAD DAY FOR: Lone Star pride, after Illinois beat Texas in a bid to host the $1.8 billion FutureGen experimental coal-based power plant. The public-private partnership, 75 percent taxpayer supported, aims to generate electricity through hydrogen gas stripped from coal, then bury the carbon dioxide emissions underground. Texas beat Illinois for a super collider project that was aborted in 1993. (AP in Yahoo! Finance)
