Good Day, Bad Day
Wealthy solitude, self-reflection
GOOD DAY FOR: Wealthy solitude, after the film I Am Legend earned $67.5 million in its opening weekend, a record high for a December movie opening. The movie stars Will Smith as the last known man on Earth. “It’s no wonder Will Smith feels so lonely,” said Paul Dergarabedian of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. “Everyone else on Earth is in the movie theater.” (AP in The Wall Street Journal)
BAD DAY FOR: Self-reflection, after a report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project found that 47 percent of adult U.S. Internet users said they’d looked themselves up in Google or another search engine. That’s up from 22 percent in 2002, but the Pew researchers were surprised the number wasn’t higher. About 60 percent said they weren’t concerned about how much information was available about them online. (AP in BusinessWeek.com)
