Thompson campaign shake-up
The week's news at a glance.
Washington, D.C.
Fred Thompson has not yet officially announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, but his campaign has undergone its first staff reshuffling. Thompson’s top advisor, Tom Collamore, left the campaign last week, amid reports that Thompson’s wife, Jeri, a former political operative, wanted to play a more prominent role in managing her husband’s candidacy. Thompson supporters expressed concern that the former Tennessee senator was waiting too long to get his campaign into full swing. “What’s the holdup?” said Keith Harper, who runs the pro-Thomson Web site Fredheads.com. “It seems an opportunity is being squandered.”
