Episcopalian rebellion

Episcopal dioceses in Fort Worth and Pittsburgh said this week that they considered the national church’s confirmation of an openly gay bishop to be “null and void.” The dioceses asked the worldwide Anglican Communion to recognize their views as the “legitimate expression” of the U.S. church. “We are trying to bring the Episcopal Church back to its senses,” said Pittsburgh Bishop Robert Duncan. Dioceses in central Florida and Albany have already protested the approval in August of V. Gene Robinson as New Hampshire’s bishop. Conservatives are lobbying the leader of the Anglican faith, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, to split the U.S. church in two, with a separate province for conservatives who believe the Bible condemns homosexuality.
