Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein is believed to be hiding in the “Sunni Triangle” area of Iraq, U.S. military commanders said this week. The area, around Saddam’s hometown of Tikrit, is the center of anti-American guerrilla attacks that has killed more than 60 U.S. soldiers since major combat was declared over. Col. James Hickey said his brigade has been conducting round-the-clock, house-to-house raids in Tikrit. “If he is in my area, his days are numbered,” Hickey said. The military believes that Saddam changes location every two hours. But with 39 people captured out of the 55 top Baathist leaders on the U.S. military’s “deck of cards,” officials said there are few places left for Saddam to hide.
