American murdered
The week's news at a glance.
Camp Doha, Kuwait
Gunmen hiding in roadside bushes ambushed a car carrying two American defense contractors in Kuwait this week, killing one and injuring the other. The U.S. ambassador condemned the attack as a “terrorist incident,” the latest in a series of assaults on Americans in Kuwait. In recent months, at least four attacks have killed one American and wounded three. More than 15,000 U.S. troops and hundreds of civilian defense-industry workers are in Kuwait, preparing for a possible war with neighboring Iraq. Most Kuwaitis support the U.S. presence, but Kuwaiti officials said this week that Iraqi spies were active in the country.
