One of the silver linings of 2020 was the opportunity for many of us to invest time in quality home cooking, but come 2021, you might be feeling that it’s time to expand your repertoire of recipes further. Michelin star-winning chef Tom Aikens can help you build up your cooking skills with @CookingWithTomAikens, a private Instagram account featuring a host of live and pre-recorded cookery classes. Aikens offers weekly tips and tricks, and there are opportunities to ask him questions about the recipes and to receive personal pointers from a real pro.

Canadian-American musician Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the most interesting entertainers of the 21st century, turning his hand to everything from operas to Judy Garland tribute concerts. His latest project is a series of events, including Q&As, performances and album retrospectives streaming live through January into February and March. You can check out the lineup of forthcoming events, as well as watching them on-demand for up to a month after they first air.

Partnering with The Cocktail Delivery Company, Sipsmith is bringing the great art of mixology right to your door with its virtual masterclass for two. All the ingredients you need to make gimlet and dark fruit brambles will be delivered to you, with a live class at 7pm on 4 February to guide you through the steps for creating the cocktails. If you can’t go to the bar, why not bring the bar to you?

For many of us, 2020 has put our place in the world into perspective. What other unpredictable events does the future hold, what part can we play in preparing for them, and who stands to be impacted the most? As part of its Arctic: Culture and Climate exhibition, the British Museum has invited guests from around the world to discuss the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on Indigenous Peoples and poorer countries to give us all a better understanding of what’s at stake.

The new year can be a challenging time, and 2021 probably more so for many of us. At 7pm on 28 January, performance artist, dance, and movement psychotherapist Ekin Bernay will be leading a workshop to help you relax and reconnect with your body. Inspired by the work of celebrated artist Bruce Nauman, this Tate workshop will teach you to use movement and meditation to slow down and reflect on your inner resilience.

Formula One veteran David Coulthard chairs an evening with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team to look back over the events and excitement of the 2020 season. You can join team principal Christian Horner and drivers Max Verstappen and Alex Albon live and online on 1 February as they share anecdotes and secrets from the previous year, and their hopes and expectations for the next, with the opportunity to ask your own questions to the team, too.
