Lotus Evija
It’s set to be a great year for auto enthusiasts, said Arran Mehtam on HotCars.com. There are a range of new supercars and hypercars ready to be launched and the one “we’re looking forward to the most” is the Lotus Evija. It’s a car that “you’d never expect” the British company to make. Lotus’s first-ever fully-electric car is “completely wild in every single way” and “packed full of technology”. Only 130 models will be built and it will cost £2.04m.
Maserati MC20
Maserati “has its mojo back” and there’s “no better proof of that than its all-new supercar”, said CarBuzz. Powered by a bespoke 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, the MC20 is the first super sports car of the Trident Brand. The Italian luxury marque has only just begun deliveries of its MC20 supercar, Motor Authority reported. But it has released teaser pictures of a new MC20 convertible that’s due to be revealed in 2022.
McLaren Artura
While Maserati has opted for a turbo V6, McLaren has a turbo hybrid V6 in the all-new Artura, said Seán Ward on Goodwood Road & Racing. The Artura is McLaren’s first hybrid since the P1 but this is “very much a supercar rather than a hypercar”. This could be “the birth of a new McLaren” and potentially the Woking-based company’s “most important car” since the 2012 MP4-12C, said Motortrend.
Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4
A famous name from the past will be revived by Lamborghini for 2022, Auto Express reported. The Countach LPI 800-4 is a hybrid supercar with 803bhp and an impressive top speed of 221mph. With a price tag of nearly £2m and just 112 being built, Lambo’s hyper-hybrid has already sold out, said Vijay Pattni on Top Gear.
Ferrari 296 GTB
Ferrari’s latest “sensational” mid-engine supercar is the plug-in hybrid 296 GTB, said Motortrend. It will be powered by a V6 petrol engine and have an estimated starting price of £230,000. The 296 GTB will compete with other “lightweight mid-engine exotics” including the McLaren Artura, Maserati MC20, and Lamborghini Huracan.
