United saved by penalties

Manchester United are through to the Carabao Cup fourth round but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side needed penalties to beat Rochdale.

Metro reports that under-pressure United boss Solskjaer was given a “big scare” by the League Two outfit and the Daily Mail adds it was a “lucky” result for the Red Devils on a flat night at Old Trafford.

Mason Greenwood, 17, put United ahead on 68 minutes before 16-year-old Luke Matheson levelled for Rochdale with 14 minutes remaining. The match went to spot kicks with United progressing 5-3 in the shoot-out.

Real eye double raid on Tottenham

The Daily Mirror reports that Real Madrid are aiming to sign Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen on a pre-contract in January.
