1. Pete Davidson charged with reckless driving
Live from Los Angeles, it's a reckless driving charge for Pete Davidson. The "Saturday Night Live" alum has been charged after reportedly driving into the side of a house in March. The news was first reported by TMZ. The comedian was allegedly driving with his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, in Beverly Hills when he lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a home. "We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home," the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirmed to The Week. "Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision." Davidson was charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving, and his arraignment was scheduled for July 27. Per TMZ, reckless driving can result in up to 90 days in jail and a fine of $1,000, or about 280 times less than Davidson spent with Colin Jost to buy a Staten Island ferry while "very stoned."
2. Michael Cera almost married and immediately divorced Aubrey Plaza
A Michael Cera and Aubrey Plaza wedding very nearly happened in Vegas. Cera spoke to Rolling Stone about coming close to tying the knot with Plaza, his "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" co-star. "We were driving through Vegas, and we almost just spontaneously took a detour and got married," he said, adding that it was "like something where you get a certificate." But to be clear, neither expected it to last. "I think the idea was to then get a divorce right away, so we could call each other 'my ex-husband' and 'my ex-wife' at like … 20," he explained. This relationship was only confirmed years later, as Plaza casually told RuPaul in 2016 that she dated Cera for a "year and a half" after meeting him on the "Scott Pilgrim" set. "We love each other, and we're still really good friends," she said. "He's just a weird little freak, and we speak the same language." Those who make people uncomfortable together stay together.

3. Samuel L. Jackson thinks he should be in every Marvel movie, especially 'Black Panther'
Wakanda things was Marvel thinking when leaving Nick Fury out of "Black Panther"? That's what Samuel L. Jackson wants to know. The actor told Entertainment Tonight that playing Nick Fury in the MCU has been "up and down," partially because he wants to be used even more. "If I had my way, I would have been in every Marvel movie," Jackson said. But he was especially puzzled by the fact that he has never been to the fictional country from the "Black Panther" films. "I'm still trying to figure out why I've never been to Wakanda," he noted. Jackson has been beating this drum for years, telling Ellen DeGeneres in 2018 he "kept asking" to go to Wakanda when the first "Black Panther" was in production, but to no avail. "I'm still trying to get there," Jackson told ET. "I need a ticket." Marvel, we're here to talk to you about the "getting Samuel L. Jackson in 'Black Panther 3'" initiative.
4. Hans Zimmer proposes to his partner live on stage
Score! Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer proposed to his partner live on stage at a show in London on Thursday night, and thankfully for everyone in the audience, it looks like she said yes. Multiple videos shared on social media showed Zimmer bringing her up on stage, and after announcing he had an important question, he reportedly first playfully asked if she locked the back door or if there was "milk in the fridge." But he finally popped the question in front of the crowd, prompting cheers as she nodded and they hugged. Zimmer, who has scored movies like "Inception" and "Dune," was performing at the O2 arena in London. He has been married twice before, most recently to Suzanne Zimmer, whom he divorced in 2020. Zimmer's spokesperson confirmed the proposal to The Associated Press, and according to the BBC, Zimmer's fiancée's name is Dina De Luca. Hopefully, she's prepared to walk down the aisle to the sound of "BRAAAAMM."

5. 'The Flash' director promises film's visual effects look weird on purpose
Does "The Flash" look that way intentionally? The director is weighing in. The new DC film has been drawing criticism for its visual effects, with critics and fans alike arguing they look off-putting at best and unfinished at worst, especially when the Flash uses his powers. But director Andy Muschietti would like to clarify that they were finished, and you're meant to find them strange. In particular, io9 asked about an odd early sequence where the Flash saves babies falling from a building. "The idea, of course, is … we are in the perspective of the Flash," Muschietti told the outlet. "Everything is distorted in terms of lights and textures. We enter this 'waterworld' which is basically being in Barry's POV. It was part of the design so if it looks a little weird to you that was intended." Somewhere, the team behind "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" is kicking themselves for not thinking of the "we meant for it to look bad" excuse first.
