Toyota has taken the wraps of its new, futuristic Concept-I at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Yui interacts with the driver through an array of coloured lights and sounds inside the cabin, along with various displays and touch feedback. There are even projectors in the rear to assist with blind spots and a heads-up display that maintains the driver's focus on the road. The Concept-I is part of Toyota's vision of how vehicles may appear in 2030, AutoExpress says, with most of the technology demonstrated potentially filtering down to production models "much before that".
It takes the idea of a connected car in a new direction, offering customers a relationship with their vehicle rather than it merely being a mode of transport.
Similar systems have also been unveiled by Faraday Future and Volkswagen, with mobile apps allowing users to tailor their driving environment through driver profiles.
CES runs from today until 8 January.
