Theresa May will offer Jeremy Corbyn three major concessions this week in a bid to force MPs to back a new Brexit deal, claims The Sunday Times. It is believed that the PM will outline plans for a comprehensive but temporary customs arrangement with the EU lasting until the next general election. She will also offer to match Corbyn’s wishes on goods alignment and workers’ rights.
2. Speaker worries Trump won't give up power if he loses
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has told the New York Times that she fears President Donald Trump will not voluntarily step down unless Democrats win by a “big” enough margin in 2020 that he doesn't contest the results. She predicted that Trump could “poison the public mind” and “challenge each of the races” if Democrats didn't win by an overwhelming majority in 2018.
3. Toddler and pregnant mum killed in air strikes on Gaza
A toddler and her pregnant mother were killed in Gaza after Israel responded with airstrikes and tank fire to rockets that were fired over the border by Palestinian militants. Four other Palestinians were killed, including a 25-year-old man who was hit by an Israeli drone missile while traveling on a motorbike in northern Gaza. Four Israelis were wounded by Palestinian rocket fire.

More than 100 failing care homes are currently run by bosses who have been forced to shut down other establishments after residents died or were neglected, reveals the Sunday Telegraph. Relatives said they would never have put their loved ones in the homes had they known the directors’ history. MPs are calling for owners of failed homes to be banned from operating in the care sector.
5. New Maddie suspect is German man under suspicion of abuse
The new suspect in the Madeleine McCann case is a German man already being investigated over alleged child sex offences, according to Sky News. The suspect is thought to have been living on the Algarve coast when Madeleine vanished 12 years ago. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said: “We have active lines of inquiry and I think the public would expect us to see those through.”
6. Rich List says Queen are more wealthy than the Queen
The rock band Queen are richer than the Queen herself, according to the next Sunday Times Rich List. The box-office success of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie means Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon have a combined wealth of £445m. The Queen’s wealth has flat-lined at £370m, according to the list, which will be published next weekend.
7. Gavin Williamson ‘was sacked over May diabetes slur’
Gavin Williamson was sacked after Theresa May was told that he had said that her diabetes made her unfit to be prime minister, claims The Sunday Times. Sources say the remarks were overheard by a senior party official, who reported the former defence secretary’s conversation back to Downing Street. Williamson denies the claims.
8. Police association calls for CPS to drop rape phone plan
Britain’s police commissioners are calling on the CPS to withdraw the new form issued to rape complainants telling them to hand over their mobile phones or risk seeing their case discontinued. The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners believe that the use of the form would result in a loss of confidence in the police and the criminal justice system.
9. Trump tweets his support of banned far-right figures
Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to offer his support for far-right figures banned by Facebook, declaring that he is “monitoring and watching, closely!!” The US president said he would “monitor the censorship of AMERICAN CITIZENS on social media platforms,” after social media companies banned the editors of a prominent American conspiracy theory website, Infowars.
10. Nurse told her marathon record attempt will not count
An NHS nurse was told her marathon world record attempt would not count because she did not complete the London race wearing a skirt. Despite Jessica Anderson crossing the finish line in 3.08:22 last Sunday, Guinness World Records told Anderson her bid to become the quickest woman to complete a marathon race dressed as a nurse would not count because she was wearing scrubs with trousers.
