1. GREEKS VOTE FOR EUROZONE - JUST

Greece's pro-bailout New Democracy party has won the most seats in the re-run general election. Leader Antonis Samaras declared that Greeks had "voted to stay in the Eurozone". Samaras must now form a coalition, but the anti-bailout Syriza party, which came a close second, has already refused to join a "national salvation government".

2. RODNEY KING OF LA RIOTS FOUND DEAD

Rodney King, the black American at the centre of the Los Angeles riots 20 years ago, was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool early yesterday, aged 47. There is no suspicion of foul play. The LA riots erupted in 1992 after a jury acquitted four white policemen who had been caught beating him on videotape.

3. HOLLANDE'S EX HUMILIATED IN ELECTIONS

French President Francois Hollande's Socialist Party has won enough seats in parliamentary elections to form an absolute majority, with results last night predicting 313 to 315 of the 577 seats in the National Assembly. But Hollande's ex-partner Segolene Royal accused her rivals, who include his new First Lady Valerie Trierweiler, of "treachery" after losing her seat.

4. POLICE PROBE SECRET MURDOCH IPHONES

Scotland Yard detectives investigating phone hacking at the News of the World were last night examining the call records of four newly discovered Apple iPhones issued to James Murdoch and senior executives at News International, totalling £12,000 worth of calls in a year. Detectives and the Leveson inquiry had known only of Blackberry phone traffic.

5. YOUTUBE DELETES ‘TERRORISM' VIDEOS

Google revealed last night that it removed about 640 videos from YouTube that allegedly promoted terrorism over the second half of 2011 after complaints from the UK's Association of Police Officers. It had terminated five accounts linked to the suspect videos. But Google had refused many other official demands, including six from Pakistan.

6. RAIN FORECAST FOR ASCOT AND WIMBLEDON

More rain, wind and storms are forecast for this week's Royal Ascot and next week's Wimbledon. The Met Office last night promised "sunny spells" for the first two days of Ascot, but said "it's going to go downhill on Wednesday and get quite wet". The weather is expected to be "worse" for the tennis championships.

7. EGYPTIAN ARMY GRABS POWER

Egypt's generals yesterday awarded themselves the final say in the writing of the constitution in a legislative coup that will severely restrict the powers of the new president elected after the weekend elections, predicted to be the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi. The Brotherhood declared the proclamation "null and void".

8. SURREY CRICKETER KILLED BY TRAIN

Surrey cricketer Tom Maynard has died after being hit by a District Line train on railway tracks near Wimbledon Park station on the London Underground in the early hours of this morning. The 23-year-old was killed shortly after he ran away from police officers who stopped his car after it was seen being driven erratically.

9. POLICEMAN ON TRIAL FOR MANSLAUGHTER

Newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson died as a result of a "gratuitous act of aggression" by police officer Simon Harwood at the G20 protests in 2009, a court was told on the first day of his trial for manslaughter. Tomlinson died after being struck with a police baton and being pushed to the ground. The prosecution said Harwood's "blood was up".

10. HOT TICKET: BIEBER KEEPS FANS BELIEVING

The third album by YouTube-spawned Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber, Believe, is released in the UK today. Tracks span Ibiza-style dance tunes to hip-hop and R&B, and feature collaborations with a number of stars such as Nicki Minaj, Drake and Ludacris. "Tuneful and sensitive", says the Daily Mail.
