1. NURSES WILL LEARN TO BE MORE CARING
Trainee nurses will have to spend a full year providing basic care on hospital wards – washing and feeding patients - under new plans to ensure they learn basic nursing values, including compassion. Following the Mid Staffordshire NHS scandal, some graduate nurses have been criticised for being "too posh to wash".
2. BORIS BEREZOVSKY DIED BY HANGING
A post-mortem examination has found Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky's death was "consistent with hanging", police said last night. He was found dead on Saturday a bathroom floor at his mansion in Berkshire. The post mortem found nothing to indicate a violent struggle. There will be further tests for any traces of poison.

3. SNOW: THOUSANDS OF SPRING LAMBS PERISH
Thousands of spring lambs and other farm animals are feared to have died in the snow, the National Farmers Union reports. The late winter storms had struck during the "crucial time" of lambing season. Thousands of cattle are also feared lost. "Catastrophic losses" on the Isle of Man are feared after the heaviest snow since 1963.
4. BLACKBERRY SHARES TUMBLE ON Z10 FLOP
Shares in BlackBerry have tumbled after it emerged that the launch of the phone manufacturer's new Z10 model, described as make-or-break for the company, had not been a success. A report by Goldman Sachs described US sales as "disappointing" and concluded that the new handset only had a "20 per cent chance of success".

5. US FIRM TAKES OVER SEARCH AND RESCUE
The Bristow Group is to take over Britain's helicopter search and rescue operations from the Navy and Air Force. The US-based private company has won the contract from 2015 to 2026. Prince William's unit in Angelsey will be among those disbanded, but modern Sikorsky helicopters will replace aging Sea Kings.
6. TIGER WOODS IS WORLD NO 1 AGAIN
Golfer Tiger Woods, 37, returned to the top of the world rankings for the first time since October 2010 and the scandal over his sex addiction after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational by two strokes yesterday. He pushed Rory McIlroy down into second place. Tiger's new girlfriend, champion skier Lindsey Vonn, tweeted: "Number 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

7. BORIS: EDDIE MAIR DID 'A SPLENDID JOB'
London mayor Boris Johnson says the BBC presenter Eddie Mair did "a splendid job" asking pointed questions on Sunday about his character and integrity. "There is no doubt that is what the BBC is for – holding us to account". Mair said at one point: You're a nasty piece of work, aren't you?" Boris's father, Stanley, thought the interview was "disgusting".

8. AMANDA KNOX FACES MURDER RETRIAL
Amanda Knox says the decision of Italy's top court that she should face a new court hearing over the death of 21-year-old British student Meredith Kercher in 2007, is "painful", but she has vowed to prevail. The Seattle student was convicted of Kercher’s murder in 2009, but the conviction was overturned on appeal in 2011. That appeal is now annulled and the original conviction stands.

9. THERESA MAY TO SPLIT UK BORDER AGENCY
Home Secretary Theresa May is to split the troubled UK Border Agency into two organisations and bring it back under ministerial control. One part will deal with enforcement; the other with visas and immigration applications, May told the Commons today. The UKBA has faced mounting criticism and was labelled "not fit for purpose" by MPs yesterday.
10. HOT TICKET: ROYAL BALLET REVIVES ALICE
The Royal Ballet's revival of Christopher Wheeldon's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' has opened in Covent Garden. Wheeldon retells Lewis Carroll's dark fairy tale of Alice's extraordinary journey down a rabbit hole. "A winner", says the Daily Telegraph. Until 13 April. One-off cinema showing 28 March.
