Trainee nurses will have to spend a full year providing basic care on hospital wards – washing and feeding patients - under new plans to ensure they learn basic nursing values, including compassion. Following the Mid Staffordshire NHS scandal, some graduate nurses have been criticised for being "too posh to wash".
