1. DAVID MILIBAND TO QUIT BRITISH POLITICS
David Miliband is to leave Parliament and move to the US to work for a charity, stepping down as MP for the safe Labour seat of South Shields. The former foreign secretary, 47, who lost the Labour leadership battle to his brother Ed in 2010, is to move to New York to become head of the International Rescue Committee.

2. BANKS TOLD TO RAISE £25BN NEW CAPITAL
The Bank of England has told Britain's banks that they must raise £25bn in new capital to absorb potential future losses. It is the first ruling of the Bank's Financial Policy Committee, created by Chancellor George Osborne to help maintain financial stability in the wake of the banking crisis. Banks are reported to be "disappointed".

3. TEENAGE GIRL KILLED BY PACK OF DOGS
Jade Anderson, 14, was discovered dead inside a house she was visiting in Atherton, Wigan, yesterday after being mauled by four dogs which went "out of control" as she ate a meat pie. The two bull mastiffs and two Staffordshire bull terriers were destroyed by police. According to witnesses, it took nine bullets to kill the largest dog.

4. TWO MEN JAILED OVER SUN STORIES
A former prison worker and an ex-police officer have been jailed for selling stories to The Sun newspaper. Richard Trunkfield, who worked at Woodhill prison, was given 16 months for passing on details about Jon Venables, one of the Bulger killers. Surrey PC Alan Tierney received 10 months for selling information about cases linked to John Terry and Ronnie Wood.
5. RAF DROPS FOOD FOR SNOWBOUND SHEEP
An RAF Chinook helicopter yesterday began airlifting bales of hay to sheep and cattle stranded in deep snow in Northern Ireland. It dropped four bales into the Glens of Antrim, enough to feed 400 sheep for 24 hours. Thousands of UK households remain without power, while travel agents are enjoying record bookings for Easter breaks to the sun.
6. THERESA MAY LOSES ABU QATADA APPEAL
Home Secretary Theresa May has lost her appeal against a ruling that prevented radical preacher Abu Qatada from being deported to Jordan. The Court of Appeal decision means that Muslim cleric is now likely to be freed from prison, weeks after being detained over breaches of his bail conditions. The Home Office plans to seek leave to appeal.

7. SUN AND TELEGRAPH TO PUT UP PAYWALLS
The Sun announced yesterday it is to start charging readers for its on-line news service in the second half of this year. Rupert Murdoch's News International said it was "no longer tenable" to give free access to 30 million monthly users. The Daily Telegraph is to put up a metered paywall, charging online readers after 20 articles a month.

8. TRUMP SNUBBED OVER ABERDEEN WIND FARM
Consent for an offshore wind farm which is opposed by celebrity property developer Donald Trump was granted yesterday by the Scottish government, prompting an immediate pledge of legal action. The £230m development, which Trump says will spoil the view from his Menie golf course and hotel project in Aberdeenshire, consists of 11 wind turbines to power 49,000 homes.
9. MONTENEGRO HOLD ENGLAND TO 1-1 DRAW
England's path to World Cup qualification looks rockier after Montenegro fought back to force a 1-1 draw in Podgorica. Wayne Rooney headed in an early goal - his fifth in six games he has played for England since Euro 2012 – but Montenegro scored with 13 minutes to go and remain two points clear of England at the top of Group H.

10. HOT TICKET: THIRD BIOSHOCK 'FABULOUS'
The third instalment in the 'BioShock' fantasy video game series has been released in the UK. Set in 1912, 'BioShock Infinite' tells the story of detective Booker DeWitt's mission to rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious young woman with supernatural powers, from the embattled floating city of Columbia.
