1. SYRIA: US AND RUSSIA AGREE UN RESOLUTION
After more than two years of deadlock, the US and Russia have agreed the text of a draft UN resolution on Syria's chemical weapons. A vote will now take place, with the 15 member states of the Security Council deciding whether to adopt it. But a second resolution would still be needed before military force could be used.

2. CLIMATE CHANGE 95% CERTAIN, SAYS PANEL
Nine hundred scientists have reviewed 9,000 studies on climate change and have concluded there is a 95% chance that global temperatures are rising and that human activity is to blame. The International Panel of Climate Change will warn today that temperatures will rise by between 1.5C and 4.5C by around 2050.

3. KERRY MEETS IRAN COUNTERPART AT UN
The highest-level international talks on Iran’s nuclear programme for six years took place at the UN yesterday as US secretary of state met his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. After what EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton called “substantial” talks, they agreed to further discussions in Geneva in October.
4. LIONEL MESSI IN COURT ON TAX CHARGES
Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi and his father have appeared in court in Spain over allegations of tax fraud. The pair were questioned separately at the court in Gava, near Barcelona. They are accused of defrauding the authorities of more than 4m euros by diverting money to overseas companies. Messi is four times Fifa World Player of the Year.
5. LEE RIGBY: PAIR PLEAD NOT GUILTY
Two men accused of killing solider Lee Rigby in broad daylight in a London street have pleaded not guilty to his murder. Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, denied the charge at the Old Bailey. The men, who appeared via video link, also face firearms charges and Adebolajo is accused of the attempted murder of two police officers.
6. UN PROBES 'MORE CHEMICAL ATTACKS'
UN chemical weapons inspectors are investigating whether three chemical attacks were carried out in Syria after the 21 August Damascus incident that sparked threats of US military action. A UN statement said that, in all, seven alleged incidents of chemical weapons use were under investigation.
7. PRINCE GEORGE TO BE CHRISTENED
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced details of their son's christening, which will take place next month. Prince George, born on 22 July, will be baptised on 23 October at St James's Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. Earlier, a new coat of arms to represent William and Kate as a married couple was unveiled.
8. ANOTHER MICHELIN STAR FOR HESTON
Celebrated chef Heston Blumenthal has earned another Michelin star - the sixth across his growing empire of three restaurants. The new accolade is for Dinner, the chef’s relatively new London establishment, awarded because of its “glorious celebration of Britain’s cultural heritage” including powdered duck breast.
9. BIG BROTHER HOUSE SHOWN BY NAT TRUST
The National Trust has been criticised for working with reality show Big Brother to open the house where the series is filmed to the public. The Trust has not taken over the house but is using a two-day event to “look at what a younger, more urban” trust member might want to see. Anne Widdecombe said: “It’s just wrong.”
10. HOT TICKET: WOODY ALLEN'S BLUE JASMINE
Woody Allen's latest comedy-drama, Blue Jasmine, opens in UK cinemas today. Cate Blanchett stars as a New York socialite forced to live with her down-at-heel sister after her husband is convicted of financial fraud. With Sally Hawkins and Alec Baldwin. "Pure movie-going pleasure," says The Guardian.
