1. Tories lobbying to protect Google’s £30bn tax haven
At least six of the UK’s 10 largest multinationals — including Shell and Lloyds Banking Group — paid no UK corporation tax in 2014 despite combined global profits of more than £30bn. Meanwhile, The Observer says Tory ministers have been lobbying to protect Google’s £30bn tax haven, telling the European commission that they are “strongly opposed” to sanctions against Bermuda.
2. Donald Trump poised to win the Iowa caucus
Donald Trump will win the Iowa caucus, according to a closely watched survey. Trump has 28% of the vote according to the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg poll - considered the most authoritative gauge of the Iowa election. This gives him a five point edge over Ted Cruz, his nearest rival. Marco Rubio has 15% of the vote.
3. Cameron asks MP to examine racial imbalance
David Cameron has asked David Lammy MP to examine why black offenders are more likely to be jailed than white offenders in English and Welsh courts. Lammy, a former barrister, will review the "over-representation" of black and minority ethnic defendants in the justice system. The PM also says that racism in the UK’s leading universities “should shame our nation”.

4. Britain planning to bomb IS in Libya
Britain is planning to bomb Islamic State targets in Libya, says The Sunday Times. A unit of British military and intelligence officers have undertaken a secret reconnaissance mission to plan RAF airstrikes against IS militants in the north African state. The plans come amid fears that the terrorist group is preparing to threaten the Mediterranean.
5. Migrants: riots break out between rival groups in Dover
Rioting broke out for five hours around Dover yesterday as far-Right groups and anti-fascist campaigners clashed over the refugee crisis. David Cameron is to hold talks over dinner this evening at No 10 with Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council, in an attempt to agree a plan to take control of the migrant flow from Europe.
6. Has a Russian warplane violated Turkey's airspace?
Turkey says a Russian warplane has violated its airspace, two months after it shot down a fighter on the border with Syria. The foreign ministry said a Russian SU-34 jet entered Turkish airspace on Friday morning despite warnings. Moscow's ambassador has been summoned to foreign ministry. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned Russia to expect repercussions.
7. Double triumph for Idris Elba at Los Angeles bash
Idris Elba has won two gongs at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. The double victory for the British star at the ceremony comes amidst an ongoing row over at the absence of black Oscar nominees, sparking calls for a boycott. "I don't know what to say, thank you so much everyone in this room for giving me that,” said Elba as he took the second award.
8. Man dies as rival biker gangs clash in Colorado
Clashes between rival motorcycle gangs left one person dead and another seven injured in the US state of Colorado. Police said four people were shot, one fatally, and one other stabbed at the Denver Coliseum, as the two gangs battled one another. In May 2015, a shoot-out between rival bike gangs in Waco, Texas, killed nine people and led to more than 170 arrests.
9. 'Christian patrol' targets Luton's Muslims
The far-right group Britain First has led a 'Christian patrol' through the streets of Luton, insulting local Muslims. Parading large white crosses, the group - led by Jayda Fransen – told a Muslim woman that the reason she has to cover herself from head to toe is because “Muslim men cannot control their urges”. She also tells a local shopkeeper Mohammed is a “false prophet”.
10. Gunners through as MK Dons plan Chelsea upset
Holders Arsenal are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup after beating Burnley 2-1 at the Emirates. Goals from Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez carried the Gunners through. Manchester City beat Aston Villa 4-0, and Tottenham beat Colchester 4-1. Today, MK Dons host Chelsea, while Everton will play at Carlisle.
