1. FBI clears Hillary Clinton over emails

What is Hillary Clinton doing now?
2. May rules out India visa quota increase
Theresa May has disappointed Indians hoping for a more liberal UK visa system, saying the current quota is enough. The Prime Minister added that she hoped her three-day visit to India, during which she has her first one-on-one meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi, will pave the way for a post-Brexit trade agreement.

3. Two prisoners escape from Pentonville
Two prisoners aged 28 and 31 have escaped from HMP Pentonville after leaving mannequins in their beds. The men used diamond-tipped cutting equipment to break out of their cells and then scaled a wall. One of them is said to be serving a 25-year sentence. The escape comes a day after a reported riot at HMP Bedford said to involve 200 inmates.

4. Nine killed in South Sudan gun attack
At least nine people were killed and 11 wounded when a gunman opened fire on football fans watching a match on television in Juba, South Sudan, police say. The motive is not yet known, but the East African nation has been plagued by violence since a civil war broke out in December 2013.
5. UK household debt hits £1.5tn for first time
Household debt in the UK has hit £1.5trn for the first time, says the Money Charity, with each adult owing an average of £30,000. While the bulk of this is in mortgages, loans and credit card debts stands at £3,737. With interest rates expected to rise, the charity says debt must be controlled.
6. NHS tells over-65s to eat hot meals to beat cold
NHS England has advised the over-65s to eat hot meals, set the thermostat no lower than 18C and to wrap up warm as the UK experiences the first cold snap of the year. The Office for National Statistics says there were 43,900 excess deaths in England and Wales last winter.
7. Tesco Bank suspends online transactions after hack
Tesco Bank has frozen all online transactions after revealing yesterday its accounts had been hacked. The bank admitted some customers had been subjected to "online criminal activity", with money being stolen in several cases. One customer tweeted she would be "unable to feed my kids tomorrow".

8. Diver rescued after 14 hours lost at sea
A diver has been rescued after 14 hours lost at sea off the coast of Australia. The 68-year-old was found 31 miles from his dive site, the wreck of the SS Yongala near the Queensland town of Townsville. He was taken to hospital where he is recovering from mild hypothermia. Rescuers said diving alone was "a bit naughty".
9. MTV awards turned purple for Prince
MTV's European Music Awards, the EMAs, turned their trophies purple this year in a tribute to the late singer and composer Prince. Justin Bieber won the top fans' award for the third year running but was not in the Netherlands to collect his trophy. The Canadian also won best song for his track Sorry, beating the UK's Adele.
10. Briefing: the new £5 notes that could be worth hundreds
Don't spend that new £5 note until you've had a close look at it. The fiver in your wallet could be worth far more if it has a rare serial number. Within days of their release, currency collectors were paying inflated prices to get their hands on notes with low serial numbers in the belief they will be worth far more in the future.
