1. Second night of protests against Donald Trump

Mainly young people took to the streets in Denver, Portland, Minneapolis and Philadelphia. Trump called them "professional protesters, incited by the media".
2. Singer Leonard Cohen dies at age of 82
Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82, three months after the death of Marianne Ihlen, his muse and former partner. The Canadian singer-songwriter was known for hits including Bird On The Wire, Suzanne and Hallelujah. Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, spoke of his "deep sorrow" at the news.
3. Two-minute silence for Armistice Day
A two-minute silence will be held across the UK at 11am today to mark the end of the first world war in 1918. Prince Harry will lay a wreath at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire and read Rupert Brooke's poem The Soldier. Remembrance Sunday takes place on 13 November.

4. Six men and one woman killed in Croydon tram crash
Police last night confirmed six men and one woman were killed after the derailing of a tram in Croydon on Tuesday morning. The first victim to be named is Dane Chinnery, 19, who was described by friends as a "beautiful lad". Police released the 42-year-old tram driver, from Beckenham, on bail yesterday.
5. Boy seriously hurt in school stabbing
A 15-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed at the City of Birmingham School in Erdington yesterday afternoon, when a group of people entered the school. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested for attempted murder. It is not known if they were pupils at the school.
6. Asian currencies fall amid Trump policy fears
Asia's emerging currencies fell this morning as markets reacted to expectations of future protectionism by Donald Trump as US president, despite American stocks closing on an all-time high yesterday. The Indonesian rupiah fell more than 5% against the dollar, the Australian dollar 2% and the Malaysian ringgit 1%. The yen also plummeted.
7. Clinton goes hiking as Trump meets Obama
US president-elect Donald Trump yesterday met President Barack Obama in the White House for talks, while his wife Melania was shown around the building by First Lady Michelle. Meanwhile, failed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton was spotted by a supporter hiking with her husband Bill in the woods near their home.
8. Family remember missing relatives 40 years on
The family of a mother and her young son who disappeared 40 years ago say they remain "heartbroken" at their absence. Renee MacRae and her son Andrew, from Inverness, vanished on 12 November 1976 while driving to Perth to meet her boyfriend. Her burnt-out BMW was found that night on the A9, south of Inverness.
9. England and Scotland to defy Fifa poppy ban
England and Scotland will wear poppies for Armistice Day in tonight's World Cup qualifier at Wembley in defiance of a ban by Fifa, which considers them to be political symbols. The Football Association has said it will contest any fine imposed by the governing body.
10. Briefing: Donald Trump's policies in a nutshell
While president-elect Trump's acceptance speech struck a conciliatory note, it gave Americans little information about the changes they should prepare for. But amid the bluster of the campaign, Trump also made some specific policy pledges.
