Why Jennifer Lawrence is 'the future of womankind'

JENNIFER LAWRENCE has become the youngest actress in history to receive three Oscar nominations. The 23-year-old, who was nominated for Winter's Bone in 2010 and won the best actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2012, is vying for best supporting actress for her work in American Hustle. Here are four more reasons the Kentucky-born actress is the most exciting woman on film (and quite possibly the planet).

She's probably going to win back-to-back Oscars

If Lawrence wins best supporting actress on 2 March - and many say she will - she'll join an elite club: women who've won back-to-back Oscars. The club's handful of members include Luise Rainer who took home two consecutive Oscars in the 1930s. Aged 103, Rainer is 80 years older than 'J-Law'.

She fell over at the Oscars and made it look good

When Lawrence took a tumble on the way to the podium to pick up her best actress Oscar in 2012, she laughed it off "brilliantly", wrote Katy Brand in the Daily Telegraph. The incident illustrated why Lawrence is "quite possibly the future of womankind". Why? Because "she danced through the whole proceedings with a lightness of touch, a shade of amusement and down to earth wit that has eluded almost every other actress since the Oscars began".

She's still a fan

You could excuse Lawrence for being a little jaded, but her reaction to Jack Nicholson when he interrupted an interview she was giving at the 2012 Academy Awards speaks volumes. Lawrence gasped at the sight of the veteran actor and squealed "Omigod!" after exchanging a few words with the screen legend.

She gives heartfelt answers to journalists' questions

Asked about the way girls and young women were judged on their appearance, Lawrence said: "Well screw those people." She added: "You have to look past it. What are you going to do: be hungry every day to make other people happy? That's just dumb." The "thoughtfulness and refreshing candour" of her answer was typical of the actress, Yahoo Movies says.
