Lewis Hamilton deletes Instagram and Twitter social media posts
F1 world champion had already apologised for controversial ‘princess dress’ comments
Lewis Hamilton no longer has any Instagram posts. The four-time world champion has also deleted all Twitter messages dating back to October 2013.
Although unexplained at this point, Hamilton’s digital purge comes after he was embroiled in a social media row during the festive period.
In a video posted on Instagram, the Formula 1 world champion is seen speaking to his nephew. According to Metro, Hamilton said: “Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is this what you got for Christmas? Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas, boys don’t wear Christmas dresses!”

Fans and critics hit out at the British driver over his comments to his nephew, accusing him of “gender shaming”. After issuing an apology for his “inappropriate” remarks, the 32-year-old then deleted the video.
Hamilton currently has 5.24million followers on Twitter and 5.7million on Instagram. His decision to purge his social media messages has met with mixed responses from his followers on Twitter:
“Exactly what’s wrong with the world”.
“He’s been bullied into silence”.
Fans won’t be able to look back at “old memories”.
“Not the first time he’s been controversial on social media”.
“A good driver, but a douche of a person”.
