Thai temple’s monks all fail a drug test
And other stories from the stranger side of life
A small temple in Thailand has been left without any monks after they all failed drug tests, reported the Bangkok Post. Four monks were forced to leave the monkhood after urine tests showed evidence of illegal drugs. The departure of the monks has “caused consternation” in the local community, which relies on them for religious functions, said Sky News. The monastic chief of Bung Sam Phan district has promised to assign some monks to the temple.
Musk mocked over Apple hypocrisy
Elon Musk has been mocked on his own social media platform after he criticised Apple while using an iPhone, noted the Daily Star. Writing on Twitter, Musk claimed that Apple had threatened to remove the platform from their App Store. He also accused the tech company of hating free speech. However, noted some users, all of these tweets were accompanied by the words “Twitter for iPhone”. One user wrote that Musk “hates Apple so much he’s been tweeting about the company all day FROM HIS IPHONE”.
Man builds biggest hot sauce collection
A US man says he has amassed the world’s largest collection of hot sauce, totalling about 11,000 bottles. Vic Clinco, from North Carolina, started collecting hot sauce about 26 years ago, reported UPI. “It has turned into an obsession,” he said, putting him at “the centre of a culture that surrounds hot sauces”. He said “you should be able to read and understand what the ingredients are” and “when you get into ingredients you cannot pronounce, then I am pretty much out”.
