It’s taken 635 days but the Cleveland Browns have finally recorded a victory in the NFL - and fans across Ohio celebrated with free beer.
After enduring a 19-game winless run the Browns secured their first “W” since 24 December 2016, beating the New York Jets 21-17 last night.

“This crowd deserved to see that first win at home, and so that’s the thing I’m most proud of, we put it together for the fans at home,” said Mayfield, the No.1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Open the fridges
The Browns’ win was also celebrated by the marketing department at Bud Light. Owned by Anheuser-Busch, Bud Light promised free beer when Cleveland next won an NFL match.
According to ESPN, in August “victory fridges” were placed in ten bars across cities in Ohio but were kept locked until a win was recorded by the Browns. But minutes after the Jets game the fridges were unlocked via a remote Wi-Fi connection, the chains came off and Cleveland fans celebrated their team’s win.
