Arkansas' ballots in Tuesday's midterm elections included a measure that would have ended the state's dry spell, but the Arkansas Alcohol Beverage Amendment failed 57 percent to 43 percent.
The election results mean that roughly half of the counties in Arkansas will stay free of beer, wine, and liquor sales.
A similar measure on alcohol sales failed in Hartselle, Alabama, for the fourth time in 12 years.
