Newspaper endorses indicted congressman, hopes he'll get convicted

The New York Daily News has endorsed Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) in his re-election bid, not because the paper thinks he's right for the job, but rather because he might not get to keep his job for much longer.

Grimm was indicted earlier this year on 20 counts of tax and wire fraud. Yet the Daily News urges its readers to back him anyway because the Democratic alternative, Domenic Recchia, is "so dumb, ill-informed, evasive and inarticulate that voting for a thuggish Republican who could wind up in a prison jumpsuit starts to make rational sense."
