NYC high school football player collapses and dies during practice

A Staten Island high schooler died on Monday after collapsing during a football practice held in unseasonably sweltering heat.

The student, 16-year-old Miles Kirkland-Thomas, had been doing wind sprints and was then talking to a coach around 10:30 a.m. when he collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a half-hour later.
