Just when you thought we'd moved beyond all the "distraction" talk, ESPN popped in to tell us how things are going in the showers between Michael Sam — the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL — and his teammates. Reporting from Rams training camp for a segment on Tuesday's SportsCenter, Josina Anderson explained that Sam is fitting in fine with the other dudes because, according to one player, he may not be showering with everyone else.
Another Rams defensive player told me that "Sam is respecting our space" and that, from his perspective, he seems to think that Michael Sam is waiting to kind of take a shower, as not to make his teammates uncomfortable. [ESPN]
Thanks, ESPN, for the inside scoop. Now if only someone would explain why Sam's showering habits shouldn't even be an issue, that would be great.
