Last week, Starz premiered the handsome, well-reviewed fantasy drama Outlander. The network is clearly happy with the show's warm reception; with just a single episode under its belt, Outlander has already been picked up for a second season.
In a nod to the series' literary origins, Starz has dubbed Outlander's second season "Book Two." The second season will be based on author Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber, and will consist of at least 13 episodes.
"The overwhelming support Outlander has received from the fans, viewers and critics made the decision for us to go ahead with the second book a very easy one," said Starz CEO Chris Albrehcy in a statement. "Diana Gabaldon has given us years of great drama."

There are eight books in Diana Gabaldon's original series, so if Outlander continues to be a hit, Starz will have plenty of material to draw upon.
