Senator Jeff Bridges? Don't count on it, man
The Dude does not abide by online petitions.
A Montana woman has launched a Change.org campaign to convince actor Jeff Bridges to run for Senate in place of incumbent Sen. John Walsh (D-Mont.), who is under fire for allegedly plagiarizing a masters degree paper. Walsh has reportedly considered dropping out of the race in the wake of the allegations, which would leave Montana Democrats in need of a last-minute alternative.
As noted by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the petition hails Bridges as a "great person" with "great name recognition! Charisma! Brains!"

"We need The Dude to be Montana's next U.S. Senator," the petition adds.
Yet before you start wondering what kind of rug Sen. Duderino would find to tie his new office together, Bridges is almost certainly not going to Washington, let alone getting in the race. The actor told Howard Stern on Monday that his wife, when informed of the petition, flatly told him, "Don't even think about it." As of Tuesday morning, the petition had a little over 1,000 backers.
