Apparently, a record 16-save performance is not impressive enough of a game to earn a finalist spot for FIFA's Golden Glove award.

The United States' Tim Howard turned in a master class on goalkeeping against Belgium, but FIFA went with three finalists whose teams advanced to at least the quarterfinals: Keylor Navas (Costa Rica); Manuel Neuer (Germany); and Sergio Romero (Argentina), reports The Washington Post. The winner will be announced following Sunday's World Cup final between Germany and Argentina.

"There is no specific rule (on whether finalists must be from teams that reach the quarterfinals)," Delia Fischer, a FIFA spokeswoman, said. "Performance evaluated by the FIFA Technical Study Group is the criterium."
