NBA accuses L.A. Clippers of lying and 'destroying evidence' to protect Donald Sterling

Donald Sterling, his wife, and L.A. Clippers President Andy Roeser tried to sweep Sterling's whole racist brouhaha under the rug by "destroying evidence" and "providing false and misleading information" to league investigators, the NBA alleges in its ongoing legal fight to wrestle control of the team from Sterling.

In its formal allegations, obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the league claims Sterling and his cohorts tried to convince Sterling's companion, V. Stiviano, to lie about the audio recordings of the owner's racist remarks. Sterling allegedly asked Stiviano to claim it was not his voice on the tapes, and that she had altered them in a disparaging way.

The NBA on Monday began the formal process of attempting to remove Sterling from the league for good. He has until May 27 to respond to the charges.
