No U.S. troops died in Iraq or Afghanistan in March, the first fatality-free month since 2003

For the first month since February 2003, no U.S. troops died in Iraq or Afghanistan in March, according to tallies by iCasualties.org. Breaking the 133-month streak is great news, but as the charts below indicated, it's also a reminder of how many U.S. and coalition troops have died in the two long wars. In all, 4,804 coalition troops have died in Iraq (including 4,486 Americans), and 3,429 in Afghanistan (including 2,315 Americans). Here are iCasualties' numbers for U.S. troops, broken out by month:
