HBO announces a free Game of Thrones-themed mixtape
YouTube

Can't wait for Game of Thrones' season four premiere? HBO has something in the works that's designed to whet your appetite:"Catch the Throne," an upcoming Game of Thrones themed mixtape. HBO has enlisted the aid of 10 hip-hop artists to offer fans a free tribute to the fantasy drama — and a just-released preview video offers a sample of what we can expect:
"I sit and think when I'm in my zone / This life is like a Game of Thrones," raps Common in the preview video for the mixtape. It's not exactly the sharpest couplet of his career. But it's hard not to be excited about any new mixtape that includes Common, Big Boi, and Wale — let alone a mixtape that riffs on one of TV's most addictive and compelling dramas.
If you'd rather not wait until the official mixtape drops on Friday, it's worth noting that forward-thinking fans have already combined Game of Thrones and hip-hop to impressive effect, as you can see below. --Scott Meslow
