At least 13 people were killed Thursday when a bus stop was hit with mortar fire in rebel-held Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Some of the victims were inside the bus during the shelling. At least one victim was in a nearby car. Separatists held the Ukrainian government responsible for the shelling, while Kiev blamed the "terrorist" attack on rebels.
More than 4,800 people have died and 1.2 million have been driven from their homes since fighting broke out between pro-Russian rebels and government troops in April. The violence has intensified in Donetsk as the two sides have battled over control of the city's airport.
