The United Arab Emirates has launched airstrikes against ISIS from Jordan. The Associated Press reports that Emirati F-16s "carried out a series of strikes" on Tuesday morning.
The airstrikes come a week after ISIS released a video showing a captive Jordanian pilot, Muath al-Kaseasbeh, being burned alive. U.S. officials told AP that the UAE stopped airstrikes in December after al-Kaseasbeh was captured.
The UAE's official statement didn't specify whether the strikes were in Syria or Iraq. ISIS is holding about one-third of both Syria and Iraq in its self-proclaimed caliphate.
